Covid 19, the infection caused by the Corona virus, has changed the world society. We learned that we need to “social distance”, “shelter in place”, restrict communications, and attempt to “flatten the curve.” No one is quite sure at this time what the new “normal” society interactions will be in 6-12 months. Covid 19 truly will have a lasting impact on our society but also hopefully will hasten our understanding of viral pandemics with a look to the future possibilities of developing immunity, either artificially induced (vaccines) or natural (prior exposure) to these infections and maybe even cancer.
Plastic surgeons have cancelled elective surgery since March 23 to keep our patients safe. It is truly a trying time for a plastic surgeon interested in meeting new patients, caring for their concerns, and following as they recover with a new found positive self-image. A favorite plastic surgeon quote of mine is: “we restore…not so much as to delight the eye but to also buoy the spirit.”
Abraham Lincoln, in the middle of the Civil War, referenced a Persian dictum saying: “And this too shall pass.” This Covid 19 pandemic shall also soon pass. In the meantime, I am in the office daily with staffing help and we can address any questions or concerns you may have. You may obtain information on surgeries and skin care products are available. They can be picked up with curbside service or mailed. Marilyn is still available by phone, email, or texting for skin care questions or to change your skin care regimen.
Soon elective plastic surgery will again be available in our office to address all your questions and concerns. It will be great seeing you all again and meeting new patients with their concerns.
